Ok well I haven't posted that much recently, but summer is definitely putting like a lazy effect on me! I've been shopping, eating numerous frappuchinos, and sleeping until noon. I'm too lazy (you see!) to post all the little things I've bought, but there are a couple of things I can tell I'm going to get a lot of use out of, such as a navy shirt with white sailor stripes from J. Crew, some jean shorts from H & M, etc. In other news, my mom gave me two old vintage dresses, one is Cacharel, and it's floral, and the other is French Connection (not f.c.u.k.!) with teeny little polka dots. They are both long, the Cacharel one is amazing, but kind of... colonial, so I'll see what I can turn it into. My mother also said I could have this blazer she has from her high school uniform, which I'm sure you'll see popping up everywhere in my outfits later this fall. She's going to give me her old Marc Jacobs floral shirt that I wore a couple posts ago, in the dress-up one. I'm very excited! OH, one more little thing. I went to American Apparel, except I was by myself, which was unfortunate because I never look at the sizes. So, little old me bought an extra large pink t-shirt with a pocket,

so I'm making it into a dress. Revolutionary idea, I know. But I'm also going thinking of brightening it up a bit with some buttons along the top of the little pocket. Possibly. If I'm not too lazy.

Eliza

Summer summer summer

Ok folks it's that time of year! I'm so excited for summer, although school hasn't technically ended yet- tomorrow... so like, 15 hours from now 7th grade will be over and summer will have officially begun! This means sunshine, swimming, no rules (esp. dress code- argh), and all over happiness!
You can tell I'm pretty excited... haha sorry, I've been counting down the days!
So here's my summer schedule so that you can know when to check back:
  • For the next two weeks, until the 28th, I will be at home, so I'll be posting every once in awhile until then.
  • After the 28th, I'll be gone for two months at camp. I'll be back by mid August, but I might be doing some more traveling, maybe to Santa Monica, CA to see my friend... but mostly I'll be here and I will do my best to write some interesting posts.
Ok, have a good night.

A trip into the past...

Going retro...

Here's my outfit for today. It reminded me and also my mom of old 1900s girls' athletic uniforms... strange huh but its true! (They got to wear skirts luckies...) It was nice and comfy and just right for the weather.

Shirt: (my mom's) Patagonia
Skirt: Urban Outfitters

Ignore the phone-- I was talking to my friend (Nati! Love her) and I was trying to multi-task.

Have a good Friday!

We can't go back now.

Comfy wide leg jeans. Walking under an umbrella in the sun. Yummy chips (from Chipotle) (not stale... sarah). Coming home to hear a jazz band playing in the back yard of the house across the street. The sun stayed up until 8.00 at night.

Summer's coming!

Go outside!

I went shopping :)

Ok just a quick post to tell you what I bought yesterday when I went shopping.

  • First I went to American Eagle. It's kind of a teeny bopper (I love saying that) store but there are some things there that are great if you pick through the preppiness. I got a a shirt and a skirt, not to be worn at the same time:
This is the shirt, it's not such a great picture, but it has little flowers on it. I found it in clearance and it's actually a medium, but it'll be extra flowy that way!

Here's the skirt, again not a very good picture (darn web cam!), but it's pleated, and to make it fit you there's a little string so you can tie it just right.

I also got a sweatshirt, but it's not so interesting and fashionable I'm going to take a picture of it. It's yellow and kind of off the shoulder.

  • Anyway, after that, I went to Commander Salamander, which I've never been to. It was pretty rad but not really my style. One thing I found there that I loved were suspenders! I've wanted them for a really long time, and now I have some red ones, and Abby has yellow ones. (i got suspenders yea i got suspenders... word!)
  • And last I went to H&M which was so fun except we went there last and we couldn't buy anything because we only had like $20 left. But I managed to find a couple little things that just caught my eye, like:

This plain white shirt. It's very simple, but I like the little braidy thing at the top.

I also got this teensy little bag, which is just right for running out with only my phone and my wallet, and it's really cute too.

So that's it. It was fun!

xoxo,

Eliza

P.S. I got the new Teen Vogue this afternoon! :)

I'm back! And with many interesting thoughts...

Well I'm back from my little vacation, even though it wasn't. The reason posts were so sparse was that I had a big party on Saturday, which just took so much planning, and I was like crazy and busy and so much happened in the last week I just wasn't able to post.But here I am now, and luckily I've been thinking of all the little things I've wanted to blog about.

I'll talk about my party.

It was a lot of fun, but like the most fun (kind of) was the presents! I got a lot of good stuff. One of my favorites were these babies:

*Sorry I'm like turned away from the camera, I use the camera on my computer for like almost all my pictures and I don't like to have the reflection of the screen in the picture :)

Those were fabulous, also these:

Nice and metallic, pretty gladiators.

So those were the best presents, I got some other great stuff but I'm not going to bore you so let's move on to the other random thoughts that I'm going to post...

Inspiration-- Some things that have inspired me recently are:

  • The movie To Kill A Mockingbird. I haven't watched it yet, because my mom isn't allowing me to watch it until I finished the book, but anyway... I was looking at the little cover...

I love his glasses! They are kind of like 'nerd glasses' but they are more 'studious.'

  • Mayan clothing-- Ok it seems a little random and strange but I'm like obsessed with the clothes that the Maya indians in Guatemala wear! In Spanish we've been studying Rigoberta Menchu, who won the Nobel Peace Prize, but mostle I've been noticing the clothes! Thy are ... different, but they're really bright and colorful and happy.
Any wayyyy... sorry if it was like way too random.

Bad bad bad

Ok I gave you an excuse for not writing before, and I'm afraid it's the same one...

well I have this big party coming up, this Saturday, which has just taken so much time and planning I've been so so so busy.

Mabye this week I'll do an outfit post...

Love,
ELiza

P.S. Did anyone else read the Uber Chic post on Agyness Deyn? She's collaborated with the band Five O' Clock Heroes in a song! She sings! Not really that great, I think modelling is more her calling, but way to expand your horizons Ag!

Craziness!

Hi guys...

First of all, I'm sorry I haven't posted in like a week. It's been really busy... my dad had knee surgery, it was standardized testing week at school, I have this big party coming up that I have to make a billion preparations for, and the internet was down for most of the week so even if I wasn't so crazy busy I wouldn't have been able to post.

I'm kind of stressed!

BUt anyway, today I'm going to post an outfit from like Thursday I think... I'm not totally sure. I had on like a really fun outfit yesterday but I didn't take a picture so maybe I'll try to explain it.

Here's the outfit from Thursday:

I love wearing skirts because every one at school wears jeans like 24 7 so it's nice to stand out!

Close-up:

**I don't know why it looks like everything outside my window is blue... I guess just the light. Sorry!**

One of the reasons I'm excited to get to high school is because the one that I will probably go to (Wilson for people who know me) has a very lax dress code... Dress For Respect.

Basically you can wear whatever you want as long as you think people will respect you in it.

At the middle school I'm at right now, your skirt and your shorts have to be as long as your arms (your fingers can't go past the hem of your skirt). If they do, you're not allowed to wear it and you have to wear like your gym uniform.

It suckkkssss.

But I liked this skirt because it was long enough to even wear high waisted!

Thanks for reading!!! Comment!

jeans DIY

these are some things i want to try to give some old jeans "new meaning"

  • Patches-- basically, cover the jeans with old random patches, buttons, etc. be eclectic. look through your mothers stuff from the hippie days, or the disco days, or the 80s, depending how old your mom is. don't go too crazy with the patches or else that will look tacky. keep them spaced out. buttons (the kind with the clasp, not the sew-on kind) should be pretty small, and pinned near the pockets.
  • Paint-- this is a trick i saw on a girl at school today... she used read paint and put it on her hands, then on her jeans. i really liked how that looked. another way to work the paint (sorry i had to say that) is if you are in an area with a lot of space, you can splatter. which will look ridiculously cool.
it might take me a while to get these done, but when (or if) i do, i will post a pictureee

Outfit! Clothes! Horton Hears A Who!

Hey people...

The time has come! I'm doing an outfit post! I'm also showing you one of my favorite shirts and me in a beret!!!! :)

I'm also going to give you my person review of Horton Hears A Who... so be excitedd!

So here's my outfit.

Tank top-- Petit Bateu (new york)
Sweater-- My dad's: Brooks Brothers
Belt: Urban Outfitters
Shorts: American Eagle

I didn't wear it to school-- the shorts are too short :(   but it was my afternoon outfit. At night its a little too chilly for the shorts, but oh well. Im really embracing spring-- I wore this outfit out with my dad out to get ice cream even though its like 50˚.

So here's my favoriteee shirt. I'm pretty much a hippie right now so this is perfect. It's so comfy and flowy and i feel like a fairy when I wear it!

I really like this.... I got it around Halloween for like $5... but I've never gotten to wear it! It makes me feel sophisticated :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~HHAW~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Horton Hears A Who!
I saw this movie today it was so good!!!!!! My friends and I are so immature we laugh at every single little thing and we're still repeating our like favorite lines. It was a really cute movie so if you're in the mood for that kind of movie I definetly recommend it!
Thanks for readinggggggggg
Vampire Weekend, Joni Mitchell, and hippies
 I love Vampire Weekend.
Everything about them is so cool.
If you've never heard of them, they are a cool newish band. They are recent grads of Columbia. Their music is really catchy, ethnic-sounding rhythms. It's really good.
I want their album. SO bad!
If you haven't already, you should check out Vampire Weekend because they are a very cool up-and-coming band.
On to some one who is not up-and-coming... no, she's already come, but she still hasn't gone.
Joni Mitchell.
She is like my IDOL. She's an amazing singer, amazing guitar player, and she's really beautiful too.
She's great.
Joni Mitchell has made me decide to dress more like a hippie!
On monday I wore a loose, flowery top with a headband around my head.
It was great except the head band was a little tight.
im thinking of doing an outfit post, or maybe just some pictures of my favorite clothes.
so stay tuned!
p.s. did you like the joke????
Saturday, March 22, 2008
oh my goddd
i just read my last post over and i sound like a  nerd. i'm not a nerd! really. i can be ... um... hood! yeah. fo shizzl. ok maybe not. but just so you know
IM NOT A NERD
on the last day of school we watched Enchanted. everybody says i'm a lot like the princess girl person. is that a compliment? she's kind of dumb...
my favorite part is when she's like to the guy "you make me... you make me... so... soo... ANGRY! hahahahahhahaha" and shes like giggling that parts funnny
i think i might do that
laughing is fun
have you laughed today?
if not I'm going to tell you a joke i heard on the radio.
If you don't laugh i suggest talking to your doctor about prescribing you Prozac.
Just kidding. Take a walk in the sunshine or something.
ok here's the JOke! :::
So there was a man named Bob, and his wife's name was Rose. Bob loved to play baseball, it was pretty much his favorite sport ever.
One day Rose got sick, and the doctors said she was dying. Right before she died, Bob said to Rose, "Rose I love you very much. But there's one thing I need you to do for me. When you get to heaven, tell me if they have baseball up there. Send me some sign or something, i don't know. But find a way to tell me, please." and Rose said "ok" and then she died.
Welll bob was very lonely after Rose died and very sad.
ONe day Bob was walking when he was blinded by a bright light. He heard Rose's voice saying "bob? bob?" and he said "Rose! How are you? I miss you very much." And Rose said "i miss you too. well guess what." And Bob Said "What?"
Rose said, "I have some good news and some bad news."
Bob said, "ok give me the good news first."
And Rose said, "Ok. Well guess what Bob? There's baseball in heaven! It's great! The field is always perfectly groomed, it's awesome."
Bob said, "Wow! Great! Ok whats the bad news?"
"You're pitching Tuesday."
Spring Break! And Teen Vogue.
Hi folks!
Okay I haven't written in about a week. I know. Naughty. Sorry. Anyway, I'll have more free time because as of now it's Spring Break! Yayyy! I hope you're excited.
Anyway. I can't post any pictures right now because I'm writing from the airport. When I get home (back to my beautiful closet <333)>
The new Teen Vogue is out! I pretty much read this magazine religiously! It's exciting. This issue is all about prom, but it's got some other good stuff.
One of the things that I like about Teen Vogue is that they usually have like 2 spreads-- a crazy one that you could never walk down the street wearing the clothes, and a not-so-crazy one that is still pretty intense fashion, but it's easier to interpret into everyday clothes.
This month, I loveddddd the "crazy" one. It was shot on the beautiful Santa Monica Pier, at like sunset. And the models are wearing huge poofy cotton-candy color dresses with chic little jackets and Keds. AAAHH! Ridiculously FABULOUS.
Also, the cover girl is the gorgeous Camilla Belle, who is really cool! She is a fabulous dresser, and very smart too!
Okay... I better sign off.
Have a good spring break, or if it's already over, or you don't have it,
Happy weekend!
YAY!
Byeeeeee thanks for reading!
COMMENT OR ELSE
please. :)
Irritating! And Ferris Beuller.
Okay let me just say that
I hate the jonas brothers!
And hannah montanah.
and every other wannabe musician that signs a contract with disney to get famous. I mean are you really that desperate? If you want to be taken seriously and have fans other than hysterical pre-teen girls, then wait until you actually get discovered!
Aargg.
Anyway.
How are you?
Comment me! Please! It makes me happy!
Okay, so now I'm going to talk about one of my favorite, favorite things in the world.
FERRIS BEULLER'S DAY OFF!
This movie is amazing! It's my most favorite. One of my hidden talents is that I can quote, like, the whole movie. I'm not even kidding.
And since it's made in the 80's, there are some... interesting clothes!
One of my favorites is Sloan (Ferris' girlfriend). She wears this amazing white fringed jacket thing which I wish I owned and I which I wish I had the guts to actually wear to school! Oh well, the 80's were crazy I guess.
Anyway. I should go do my homework.
Aaahh :(((((
COMMENT! IF YOU ARE READING THIS, COMMENT! TELL ME HOW I'M DOING! PLEASE!
Thanks for reading love you babesss mua
Swing Life Away By Rise Against
Am I loud and clear, or am I breaking up?
Am I still your charm, or am I just bad luck?
Are we getting closer, or are we just getting more lost?
I'll show you mine if you show me yours first
let's compare scars, I'll tell you whose is worse
Let's unwrite these pages and replace them with our own words
We live on front porches and swing life away,
we get by just fine here on minimum wage.
If love is a labor I'll slave till the end,
I won't cross these streets until
you hold my hand
I've been here so long, I think that it's time to move
The winter's so cold, summer's over too soon
Let's pack out bags and settle down where he palm trees grow
We live on front porches and swing life away,
We get by just fine here on minimum wage.
If love is a labor I'll slave till the end,
I won't cross these street until you hold my hand
Until you hold my hand
I've got some friends, some that I hardly know
But we've had some times I wouldn't trade for the world
We chase these days down with talks
of the places that we will go
We live on front porches and swing life away
we get by jsut fine here on minimum wage.
If love is a labor I'll slave till the end
I won't cross these streets until you hold my hand
Until you hold my hand
I'll show you mine if you show me yours first
Let's compare scars, I'll tell you whose is worse
Let's unwrite these pages and replace them with our our words
We live on front porches and swing life away
we get by just fine here on minimum wage.
If love is a labor I'll slave till the end
I won't cross these streets until you hold my hand
Swing life away
Swing life away
goog night <3>
Today...
Hello!
Today was just as boring as yesterday. MOre tests (maath this time uuurgg).
Well.
In the comments, emsie told me i should write about fashion and music. OK, I will, but I'm going to write about me sometimes, because it's the topic i know best :) (not trying to sound conceited).
So, today I will write about MUSIC, since it's amazing.
Let me start off by saying I love all kinds of music.
Oldies (mostly), hip-hop/rap/popular stuff etc. what ever you want to call it. and also random indie alternative wierd stuff.
My favorite artists and songs changes constantly.
Right now, as of 3/12/08 at 7:45 pm (ish), my favorite songs are:
  • Samson by Regina Spektor
  • Swing Life Away by Rise Against
  • Flashing Lights by Kanye (my home skillet) West (not really, I just think he's cool)
  • Come Around by M.I.A. feat. Timbaland
  • American Boy by Estelle feat. Kanye West (What did I tell you...)
  • Anyone Else But You by Michael Cera and Ellen Page
  • Amelia by Joni Mitchell (AMAZING song, amazing lyrics)
  • Oedipus by Regina Spektor (except it's not on iTunes, and I don't have Limewire! "It's illegal," as my friend Abbie would say {ms. bright AHEM} but it's an amazing song. I would break the law to get it!
  • Hang Me Up to Dry by Cold War Kids
  • Hero/Heroine by Boys Like Girls
  • Hometown Glory by Adele (free single on iTunes-- really good)
  • LDN by Lily Allen
  • Knock 'Em Out by Lily Allen
And, there's a billion more.
But I can't write them all!
And now, in Beauty news...
Today I went to CVS (I'm a 'beauty on a budget' type girl) and we (my friends and I) found these awesome lip glosses! They're made by H.I.P. and they truly are very hip. We got 'Euphoric' and it smells like cotton candy and the color is very sweet and springy. If you want to buy one, they cost 11.99. They're really nice.
Anyway. Yeah.
I think that's it for tonight.
Good night and peace out lovers!
Love love love and kisses and hugs from Eliza!
